Bet You Can't

By Lee Brock

You can't drink tea if you don't have a cup:
You can't go to bed if you don't get up.
You can't go to town while staying at home:
You can't comb your hair if you don't have a comb.

You can't write a friend if you don't have one:
You can't write finis until the work's done.
You can't go home if you haven't been away:
You can't watch TV and go out to play.

You can't kiss your wife if she's not around:
You can't be noisy and not make a sound.
You can't go to heaven while living in sin:
You can't earn enough money to buy your way in.

You can't reject Jesus and enter heaven's gate:
You can't wait forever or you'll be too late.
You can't tell Jesus just to wait for a while:
If you don't go for one you can't go the second mile.

You can't write a poem while milking a cow:
You can't plow a furrow if you don't have a plow.
You can't be more foolish than I have just been:
If you think you can I'll give you my pen.
