SOMETHING ABOUT SNOW

By Lee Brock

Something exciting there is about snow,
Feathery flakes drifting down slow,
Swirling wherever stray breezes blow,
Gently alighting along the fence row.

Something exciting there is about snow,
Piling in drifts when stormy winds blow,
Making the traffic on every road slow,
Then I am glad I have nowhere to go.

Something exciting there is about snow,
Children can’t wait to wrap up and go
Out to make snowmen and snowballs to throw,
Coming back in with faces aglow.

When I was a child we made ice cream from snow,
Something I wonder if modern kids know:
We slid down the hill as fast as could go:
Now I am old, still excited by snow.
