We will drive to Bel Air Sunday to have dinner with Bryan, Robin and the boys. Grandmother and Granddad will already be there.

My Father's Shadow

By Lee Brock

I walked today in my Father’ shadow,
And felt no fear at all:
In the early morning ‘til late in the day
I felt I was ten feet tall.

His shadow above me, His shadow around me.
I knew He was always near;
His comforting presence assured me
That to him I was very dear.

He spoke no word aloud to my ear,
But the message was very strong.
His love came through in his presence,
And in my heart was a song.

If the road seems rough and the way seems long;
If an enemy threatens me;
I have no reason to cringe and cry:
My Heavenly Father overshadows me.

THE WINDMILL CUP

By Lee Brock

In old west Texas where I grew up,

At each windmill there hung a cup:

A twisted wire handle on an old tin can,

To catch a drink for a thirsty man.

When you worked all day in the burning sun,

And came to the mill when the day was done;

A nice cool drink from the windmill cup

Could lift your weary spirit up.

I wonder who thought that idea up,

To turn wire and can into a cup.

He was a genius of the highest clan

Who did so much for the good of man.

He had no patent nor copyright;

He never got rich just overnight,

But I take my hat off to the man

Who made a cup from an old tin can.

Vacation Plans

Here are the arrival and departure times for our vacation to Maryland. We will be leaving Texas at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11. We arrive in Baltimore at 11:53 a.m. Mom and Dad will be leaving Portland at 11:16 a.m. and arriving in Baltimore at 9:09 p.m.

While there we are planning on see Bryan's house and business one day and one day touring in Washington D.C. We will have more suggestion on what to do later. Just hanging at the beach with the family should be fun.

We will be coming home the next Saturday. Mom and Dad will leave first departing at 2:45 p.m. and arriving back in Portland at 7:07 p.m. They have a stop in Chicago coming and going. We are to depart at 4:00 p.m. and arrive back at DFW at 6:26.

I am planning on going to Lubbock to pick up Vivian on Thurday the 9th and bring her here on Friday. We will take her back to Lubbock sometime the week of the 20th.

We are getting excited about the trip and looking forward to a great time.

YOU AND ME

By Lee Brock

A marvelous thing I've come to see,
That other folks aren't just like me.
They do not walk the way I walk,
Nor do they talk the way I talk.

We do not have the same dislikes:
We don't all ride on ten speed bikes.
We don't all like zucchini squash;
On Monday, all don't do the wash.

Some folks are black and some are white,
Or something else, and that's all right.
Some like dogs and some like cats,
And some wear caps and some wear hats.

Some folks are short, and some are tall;
Some play squash, and some football.
Some folks are bald and some have hair;
Some sit on couches , some on a chair.

If all of you were just like me,
What an awful bore our lives would be.
Thank God we're not all just alike:
I'll take a Buick, you ride the bike.

Monkey In A Tree

MONKEY IN A TREE
              By Lee Brock

Monkey sitting in a tree
threw a coconut at me.
I said, monkey in that tree,
What do you have against me?

Monkey said, don't you see?
You just look too much like me.
Ho ho ho, he he he,
That's as funny as can be.
